I tried to upload a video to show what my computer is doing but when i pressed "upload" nothing happened. So thats one of my problems. But my main problem is that when i click on the lock screen to go to the "enter password" text box, the clock and date go away and only the background image is there.

After about 30 seconds it goes back to the standard clock and date screen without the "enter password" prompt ever appearing. Ive tried restarting, troubleshooting from the windows repair environment, and restoring to a restore point, but it couldn't be troubleshooted and it couldn't restore. This doesnt seem like the type of problem that would require Windows to be reinstalled, but it seems that may be the only solution unless someone has any other ideas.

If not can you try rebooting Windows in safe mode? Hold the shift button as you reboot to enter the troubleshooting screen, Click troubleshoot, advanced settings, startup settings and choose safe mode. Have you tried the Enter key on Sign-in Screen? I'll keep working with you until it's resolved. Andre Da Costa Volunteer Moderator. Hold down the shift key on your keyboard while clicking the Power button on the screen. Continue to hold down the shift key while clicking Restart. Continue to hold down the shift key until the Advanced Recovery Options menu appears. In reply to Andre Da Costa's post on October 2, I held shift while clicking the power button and restart, and i kept holding it afterwards but my computer just restarted normally.

I need to boot into safe mode to perform those steps, since i cant get past the lock screen. But I cant get into the Windows RE. I tried holding shift while clicking the power button and restart button, and continuing to hold shift while it was restarting, but it just restarted normally instead of going into the RE.
